The women’s basketball team ended its season after losing to Rose-Hulman in the first round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.

The final score of the match was 53-36.

Franklin was victorious twice against Rose-Hulman during the regular season.

“It’s difficult to beat a team three times in one season,” senior Lindsey Dall said. “We all knew we were capable of doing it and were the better team. We collectively didn’t bring enough energy to that game, and Rose had something to prove and overall wanted it more.”

According to junior Katie Brewer, the team was expecting a lot more than just making it through the first round.

“We expected to win the conference tournament and then make a run in the NCAA Tournament as well,” Brewer said. “We knew we had the talent to beat top teams in Division III.”

For Dall and seniors Brittany Elliot and Nichole Thompson, this was their last game for the Grizzlies. Dall said that overall the final outcome of the season was disappointing because they believed the team could win it all.

“In terms of winning and losing games it didn’t necessarily go as well as I wanted it to,” Dall said. “But I wouldn’t trade this group of girls for anything. We all got along and just had fun together and created a lot of memories.”

Brewer will be returning next season and said she is excited for next season because the team is fairly young but will have a lot of experience.

“Next year I expect to have a fire in us to bring this team back to its success it’s had in years past,” Brewer said. “We’re in a three-year drought from winning the conference title, and I believe this team can stop that drought and win.”

Brewer also said she thought the team did some positive things this year. She said she believes that the losses they had will help them prepare for next season.

“Personally, I wont ever be satisfied until we win the conference tournament,” Brewer said.
