Volleyball looks to finish strong after loss to rival

By Eddie Castillo

The volleyball team lost 0-3 (13-25, 22-25, 15-25) on the road Wednesday night to conference rival Hanover, moving its record to 13-12 overall and 2-4 in the HCAC.

“I thought the girls worked hard,” head coach Mary Helak said. “Volleyball is a game of mistakes, and we made more mistakes than Hanover did in that game.”

Although they aren’t playing for the top spot in the conference, the Grizzlies aren’t letting down on the last three games of the season.

“We’ve had some injuries the past few weeks,” Helak said. “Some of the girls have been playing out of position, but they are playing hard.”

The volleyball team still has their eyes set on the conference tournament and will to continue playing hard these last three games.

“I think we have a chance,” Helak said. “One team can go 0-3, and we can go 3-0, so we are in a good position. The girls want to win.”
