When comparing the last two seasons for the Franklin volleyball team, “differing” is the way to describe them.

Last year was a struggle for the Grizzlies, but they’ve improved their record this season to 13-6, after winning both matches at Albion last weekend.

“We have more returners than last year and more assistant coaches to help us out,” sophomore Paige Clark said.

Franklin was able to dominate its matches, winning their first match against St. Mary’s 3-0.

This time last year, the Grizzlies barely edged out Belles 3-2 during their regular season match up.

Franklin grabbed a second win for the weekend in its game against Albion, adding a 3-1 victory to its weekend sweep.

The Grizzlies are a young team, but they are still attempting to continue their success as they head in the right direction with two wins.

Sophomore Mackenzie Wieneke has helped Franklin this season by leading the team on the defensive end.

“Wieneke is a machine,” Clark said. “She never messes up.”

Wieneke has won Player of the Week for the second week straight, totaling to three for this season.

Franklin takes on Thomas More on Wednesday night at home. The game is set to start at 7 p.m.
