Franklin hosts doubleheader after beating Transylvania 15-6 Friday

The Franklin College baseball team was able to achieve a season-best 20 hits and score 15 runs in a series-opening win over Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) rival Transylvania on Friday at home.

Franklin earned two home runs and all nine team members recorded on hit resulting in a victory.

The Grizzlies were able to jump out to a quick lead by scoring three runs in the first inning. Sophomore Jacob Trozell singled to score senior Jameson Brock for the first run. Freshman Mitch Schuman drove in two runs later in the first inning for Franklin.

Senior Seth Powers tallied his third consecutive win, while on his way to striking out seven batters in six innings. The right hander recorded his 200th career strikeout in the game. Sophomore Jacob McMain tossed three strikeouts in the final three innings.

The Grizzlies are currently hosting a HCAC doubleheader against Transylvania this afternoon. Franklin dropped the first game 9-1.
