Women’s basketball season comes to an end

The Franklin College women’s basketball season came to an end against Rose-Hulman on Friday night. Franklin came into the Heartland Collegiate Athletic conference as a third seed. The sixth seed Rose-Hulman Fightin’ Engineers defeated the Grizzlies 53-36.

Franklin struggled from the field against the Fightin’ Engineers. The Grizzlies got behind early in the game and found themselves down at halftime 23-18. Rose Hul-man then opened up the second half with a 14-7 run to increase the lead 37-25. Franklin was held to a 29.2 field-goal percentage in the game.

Katie Brewer was able to lead the Grizzlies in scoring despite an overall team struggle to shoot the ball. Lauren DeSutter added 12 points.

Abbie Marshall led Rose-Hulman with 13 points.Cassidy Cain helped the Fightin’ Engineers with 12 points.

The Grizzlies went 14-11 overall on the season and 12-6 in HCAC Conference. This was Dana Haggenjos’ first season as head coach for Franklin. The loss Friday concluded the careers of seniors Brittany Elliot, Lindsay Dall, and Nichole Thompson.
