Coaches poll predicts Grizzlies winning HCAC Division

Franklin College is predicted to win its eighth-straight consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference football title this season, according to a recent coaches’ preseason poll.

The nine HCAC head coaches gave the Grizzlies seven first-place votes and a total of 88 points in this year’s annual poll.

Head Coach Mike Leonard and the Grizzlies, who have a total of nine HCAC football titles, will be aiming to win their tenth.

Players like last year’s HCAC’s Offensive Most Valuable Player Chase Burton, senior quarterback, helped Franklin edge out second-place Rose-Hulman by eight points. In order, Bluffton, Mt. St. Joseph, Hanover, Defiance, Manchester, Anderson and Earlham followed.

The Grizzlies will face Thomas More on September 2 for their first game of the season.
